Ari Atoll
Ari Atoll encompasses both the North & South Ari administrative zones and included neighbouring
Rasdoo Atoll and the small island of Thoddoo.
Measuring around 80 kms (50 miles) in length and 30 kms (19 miles) in width, the Ari Atoll is one
of the largest atolls in Maldives group.
Ari has a few long strtches of barrier reef, except for the south side, which is broken into two
channels. Ari is rich with marine life scattered with shallow reef formations. During the
southwest monsoon season, reefs on the west side are exposed to waves, it's during this period
that whale shark
sightings can be seen.
Its natural beauty has led to it being the most well developed tourist zone
in Maldives.
